Good to see you posting again Jerry, great stuff as ever. You are just the master at folds and drapery!
Jerry, can i buy pages from you?please email me...email@example.com,Hart
Hi JerryIf you ever get the time to expound a little, could you talk a bit about how you developed such a crisp and clean look to your work? Or was it more of an intuitive thing? I admire the precision your work has always had from the start. It's not a subject I've ever seen discussed anywhere...Sid
Jerry,We have a project to talk to you about. How can we contact you by e-mail or phone?best regards,Kevin Spengelspengel at gmail.com
Hi all,I haven't posted in a long while, but I do appreciate everyone's comments. First off, to HartCactus, I sometimes sell pages through Spencer Beck, The Artists Choice, so check with him for stuff. Often he reps inkers I've worked with, and they sell their stuff there too.To SidB, I think I gravitated to the clean style because that's the art I grew up with-- Joe Sinnott, Wally Wood, Frank Giacoia, and many others. Also when I started in comics, in 1980, reproduction was really at its worst, with fine lines and crosshatching not printing all that well. I opted to go for a clean look, and used as much solid black ink areas as I could, to compensate for the also poorly printed color. Additionally, my first full time assignment was on All Star Squadron, a comic set in 1942, so all these things gelled, for me to attempt a sort of clean retro style which fit the book. Rich Buckler, the penciller, was known at that time for drawing in a Neal Adams inspired look, and I also wanted All Star Squadron to stand apart from that somewhat 1970's generic look. I am a HUGE Adams fan, but I didn't wanted to find myself lumped into the wastebin of being another Neal Adams CLONE. I wanted to develop my own look, and be individual, despite the various artistic influences that inspired me.To Kevin Spengel, I am under exclusive contract to DC Comics, so I would be unable to work on a project unless it was done by DC. Sorry. Thanks again for posting. Best, JER
